Not only do I love the book, but moreover, I love St. Therese. I am not a confirmed Catholic. I did not have any regard or verifiable evidence or experience regarding the "departed", whether declared saints or otherwise. But as Jesus Christ is real, alive, and present, I was led to this dear person name St. Therese of Lisieux. I downloaded this book on my Kindle. In addition, I have purchased hard copies of it, too. There was a severe crises in my life at this time, lightened and lifted upon reading this book. The Lord knows, and let anyone else who reads this review know, that St Therese is my 'patron saint'. This concept of a 'patron saint' never entered my mind before. But experience beyond what one can imagine, ask, or think can happen and it happened to me.

The Story of a Soul is nothing less than a spiritual thrill ride. This book has the potential to simply change your entire outlook on spiritual things. If your life is suffering from spiritual dryness, then this would be a great book to read. St. Therese is a proper role model for any person to have. All should aspire to be like her as much as possible. The Story of a Soul is an inspiring story of a great saint, a great saint who didn't became a great saint by great deeds; but by small deeds with great love. For me personally, I feel like this book changed the direction of my entire life in many regards. It really left an imprint on my own soul. The testimony of St. Therese is very powerful, and this book is very challenging. Many parts of the book may even be a little scary, as Therese's passion for Jesus and his love is so intense. Therese, and Jesus through her, are calling all of us to walk this little way of Love. To offer up our lives as victims of the ecstasy of Divine Love.I recommend this to everyone.

If you want to find your soul in Christ and have a desire to grow deeply and spiritually in your Christian walk, then this book is for you. It's deep spiritual texture and composition is the best book on soul work I have come across. "The Little Flower", St Therese of Liseux, is model for Catholic Spirituality we can ever only hope to attain. I recommend it highly.

This book was beautifully written and a total inspiration to my soul. It takes one to the heart of what it means to be devoted to God, Jesus, Mother Mary and other Heavenly Beings in big sweeping ways and in the smallest most devoted acts of diligence concerning ones thoughts, emotions, deeds and vigilance over our own souls. And all done with such strength of character and care and love for others. Absolutely beautiful!

I admit that I probably never read the entire story of a saint's life because, although I'm a Christian, I was always afraid that I'd feel a sense of inferiority reading about a saintly person. But I'd always heard that St. Therese, "The Little Flower," was a particularly endearing character. And so I decided to risk feeling terribly wicked while reading about a paragon of virtue. The good news is that I was surprised to hear that she does experience dark nights of the soul--spiritual dryness--and also total darkness. Let me explain that this is good news to me because it's hard to identify with someone who has never known the dark side of life--who has always felt plugged in to the divine light. It is uplifting to know how very much she loves God--I mean true love--the kind of love that burns for God--the kind that makes her desire martyrdom! I have never wanted to be a martyr. The closest I have come to wanting to suffer for the Lord is this: I've thought that should I be stricken with a terminal illness that it would be desirable to have one of those buttons I could press for pain relief. And then I imagine trying to hold out for as long as possible, offering up that pain to the Lord, but always knowing that the button was there when I needed relief. The thought of being thrown to the lions or burned at the stake is anathema to me--not bliss as it would be for the amazing Little Flower!I know that when a book's cover reads "The Story of a Soul" that one shouldn't expect a lot of action. But I guess I wanted more of a story. It's the kind of book where you can easily forget where you left off if you lose your bookmark because it can seem a bit repetitive. And it may not be this way at all for more saintly people but if you have more human desires, such as mine, for novelty, you might find yourself dropping off to sleep if you read this book at bedtime.

This Catholic Saint is a lovely young woman who loved God always and who fought very hard, at a very young age, to become a nun (like her sisters). Her mind, even as she suffers, is so elegant, sweet, kind, and authentic that she illustrates for us what a life without sin could be like.Just knowing her through her writings, or the writings of those who have studied her life, is pure JOY.God Bless and yes, please read the book.OlgaC

Many people say this book is too childish and not well written. I think this is because they are reading with their brain and not their hearts. Spend a moment in prayer just before reading, open your heart, then read and watch the story come to life. And in the process it will change yours.

UNPARALLELED STORY OF "THE GREAT SAINT OF MODERN TIMES.."NO WORDS ARE ADEQUATE THAT I CAN WRITE. THIS MUST BE READ , TO UNDERSTAND ITS WONDERFULLY TOLD STORY (WRITTEN BY THE COMMAND OFOF HER SUPERIORS.
